Spray — last updated 21 September 2026
You can have your Spray account deleted. This page says how to ask, what is removed, and what stays behind.
Open your profile, then the menu at the top right, then Delete account. The screen says what goes and what stays, asks once more, and does it immediately — nothing is queued and nobody reviews it.
If you cannot get into the app, email paulnadler@gmail.com from the address you signed in with and say you want your account deleted. Asking from that address is how we know the request is yours; if you cannot, say so and we will find another way to check. Requests are actioned within 30 days, and usually within a few days.
Your account and everything that is about you:
Afterwards nothing in Spray can name you, and that is a property of how it is built rather than a promise to go and tidy up. Nothing in the app stores a copy of your name: a problem records who set it as an account, not as a name, and the name is read from your profile each time it is shown. Delete the profile and every one of those reads has nothing to find, so they all say Deleted user — on the problems you set, beside the climbs you logged, on your comments, and on any leaderboard.
What you put into the app stays in it. A problem you set is a route on a wall that other people climb and log and argue about the grade of; a wall you photographed is the gym's board. Those stopped being yours alone the moment you published them, and removing them would take something from everybody else.
A gym always keeps at least one account able to change it — rename it, change its photo, decide whether it is public. If that is only you, deleting your account is blocked, and there are two ways out. Open the gym's Managers screen and let somebody else change it, or delete the gym. Either one unblocks the deletion.
Several people can hold that at once, and any of them can pass it to anybody else in the gym, so this is usually a thirty-second problem. Nobody can take it off anybody, though — it is given, and only its holder can give it up.
This is not about keeping your data. It is that a gym nobody can change is one whose walls, members and join code are frozen for everyone still climbing there.
You do not have to delete your account to remove something from it. In the app, any climb you have logged can be deleted, any comment you wrote can be deleted, and any problem you set can be deleted by you. Signing out removes that device's notification token.
